Safe trading on internet

Safe trading on internet.

Safe trading on internet is more easy when you keep certain rules in mind. The majority of the sellers and buyers on the internet has good intentions and is reliable. They sell goods as agreed and paid right on time. Unfortunately, there is – just like in the real world – a small group of people who will abuse the trust of others. Read our guidelines for buyers and sellers to minimize your risks.

Safe trading on internet

1. SAFE TRADING ON INTERNET FOR BUYERS.

1.1 GUIDELINES FOR CLEAR COMMUNICATION

Search for products as close as possible to your area and pick them up by yourself.

Make clear agreements with the seller, the price, delivery, return policy and warranty.

As a buyer, you can avoid disappointments by informing clearly about the product offered. Such as relevant product specifications (including any failures) and clear (high resolution) photos.

Let your common sense always speak and trust your instincts: if something seems too good to be true, then it usually is.

Prefer not to go to lonely places and do not take large sums of money with you when you go alone.

If you are not comfortable to go to a house of a stranger meet at a public place. Like a restaurant or shopping mall.

Make sure who you dealing with in case of large amounts of money (for example, ask for ID). And consider using an agreement and receipt (so you can prove the payment and delivery).

1.2 GUIDELINES FOR BUYING NOT IN PERSON

If it is for some reason not possible to complete the transaction in person, there is always a risk. In this case, make a risk analysis for yourself, decide what you are willing to risk and take steps to minimize it. Research the seller so you get a complete picture of the person with whom you do business.

See how long the seller has been active on Afritrada. If the seller is active for quite some time, that is mostly a good sign. Read any comments that buyers have listed about the seller.

See other offers from the seller. If the seller provide popular products (such as MP3 players, laptops, mobile phones, digital cameras, or game consoles) at very low prices, be alert.

Check if the pictures and text are made by the seller and not copied from the internet. When texts and photos are self made, that’s a good sign.

Get as much information about the seller, for example by asking for contact information. Like name, address, phone number, website, or bank account. If possible check them in the Google search engine.

Trust your common sense and don’t do transactions if you are in doubt. Judging a seller is not only based on your own analysis, but also on your own feeling.

1.3 GUIDELINES TO KNOW WHAT YOU BUY

Get as much information about the product or service from the seller.

Do not respond to offers that are good to be true.

Compare the prices of similar products or services on the internet.

Ask for exact details of the product or service and keep all the information. Also safe any email contact, proof of payment and a copy of the advertisement (with photos).

Check whether it is permitted to sell such products or services in your own country. It is the responsibility of buyers to check whether the products or services are allowed on the basis of laws of their own country.

If available, check the serial number of a product, for example with car parts and electronics.

1.4 GUIDELINES FOR SAFE PAYMENT AND TRANSPORT

Cash – By paying cash you can cross equal. The buyer gets his product and the seller gets his money at the same time. However, never send cash by post unless you trust the seller.

Bank – A bank transfer is also a secure way to pay. However, the risk of this payment method is that you pay for a product that has not been inspected in advance. Therefore only use this method if you trust the seller. Your money can not be subsequently refunded to your account.

PayPal – PayPal allows you to pay online or pay through your bank account or credit card. When transportable goods are paid via PayPal, your purchases are protected indefinitely in many cases. When you see the PayPal logo in the ad, you can pay with PayPal. You can also ask the seller himself to pay with PayPal. Click here to learn more about the PayPal Buyer Protection.

Cash – When a shipment is delivered to the door and paid to the postman. The disadvantage of cash on delivery is that only after payment to the postman the product can be viewed. So this could be a brick instead of a beautiful laptop. Use COD therefore only if you trust the seller. Do you doubt the authenticity of the mailman, ask for his or her credentials.

If a seller ask to transfer money to a bitcoin address or through Western Union, we advise you to be extra vigilant.

Be extra alert with international payments. Safe trading on internet is extra sensitive for international transactions.

In case of problems, always try first to get in touch with the seller and to come together to find a solution. If you cannot find a solution, you can choose to enable legal help.

Always report fraud to the police and Afritrada. So we can ban criminals from our website.

2. SAFE TRADING ON INTERNET FOR SELLERS.

2.1 GUIDELINES FOR CLEAR INFORMATION

If possible, deliver goods by yourself and get paid in person. When you deliver in person, you are always sure to get paid.

Make clear agreements with the buyer about the price, delivery, return policy and warranty.

As a seller, you can avoid disappointments by informing clearly about the product offered, such as relevant product specifications (including any failures) and clear (high resolution) photos.

2.2 GUIDELINES FOR KNOW WHO YOU DEALING WITH

Be alert if the buyer is in a hurry and has no intentions to inspect the product you sell.
