ZAAF™ is a collection of premium leather goods and accessories handcrafted by artisans in Ethiopia. Abai Schulze, Founder and Creative Director of ZAAF launched her line in February 2014. Her brand ZAAF, which means tree in Amharic, is a perfectly suited name for her brand, as it, like its founder, draws on its precious Ethiopian roots, rich national heritage, and resources while spreading its branches wide to embrace the whole world.)
ZAAF’s SS 2017 collection draws its inspiration from the diverse group of people in the capital of Ethiopia with whom we interact with on the daily bases. Anybody who has been to Addis Ababa will know that it is an aesthetically unique city, with a mish- mash of cultural and artistic influences from across the global. The color palette reflects Addis Ababa’s blue taxis and the organic and raw buildings of the old city in Piazza. Color, texture, and ageless patterns made on a traditional loom, are beautifully merged to create a perfect union of timeless Ethiopian style of accessories that are effortlessly functional. In our SS’17 collection, we offer a broad rand of fashion accessories for women and men including handbags, weekend and travel accessories, scarves, leather jackets and more.
Our passion to showcase the rich cultural heritage of our homeland is evident in our collection. ZAAF’s meticulously handcrafted leather bags are a breath of fresh air. They are locally sourced, handcrafted by Ethiopian artisans, yet utterly modern, elegant, and chic. ZAAF’s creativity has been recognized in various ways, ranging from showing up on runways at New York Fashion Week to being featured in Elle, Lucky and Vogue, to winning the 2014 UNESCO Tremplin Prize for Entrepreneurship.
