Hi! We are a team of friendly, passionate, fully qualified Cordon Bleu Chefs with years of teaching, cooking and catering experience gleaned in Cape Town’s finest restaurants, hotels and cooking schools.
We love eating out ourselves, and pride ourselves in staying ahead in the culinary world! We read cookbooks and recipes for fun, constantly try out new techniques and combinations, watch Masterchef Australia avidly, trawl food markets for new ingredients and innovative products and travel widely to great foodie destinations.
Chez Gourmet means the Home of Good Food, and we want to be your resource for all things culinary! Our “ Home of Good Food” is situated in a delightful Victorian gem in the heart of Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs right on the schools route, and convenient to the Claremont CBD, with off street parking.
Teaching and Catering are our core functions and we have a specialised kitchen for each.

Our Functions Kitchen has all the equipment needed to produce many cuisines from casual to fine –dining, restaurant –style! You’re welcome to have your function in our private dining room, or we’ll deliver to the venue of your choice , including your office and your home!
We love sharing our recipes, telling you where to find that elusive ingredient, whether that new gadget is going to work and solving those recipe riddles that perplex you. We are full of new ideas for menus, so we love tailor –making your functions –to your budget and dietary requirements of course!

We’ve designed a novel concept in teaching people how to REALLY cook that allows clients to choose the time, level, pace and price that suits them! Each month, we put up a new calendar of classes, all 3 hours each, where we teach you technique through recipes, with your own set of ingredients, at your own station.
Because we are a specialist short course cooking school, we have the flexibility to design you and you friends or colleagues, a lesson or team–building experience of your choice –in a group, or privately too!
